Theiss Center for Trauma and Early Childhood Behavioral Health is the cornerstone of early childhood mental health services at UPMC Western Behavioral Health. We provide the only comprehensive early childhood mental health and trauma treatment available in Western Pennsylvania. Our programs promote the mental health and well-being of young children from ages 6 weeks to 8 years and their families. We also offer school-based and trauma services for children and adolescents.
We offer comprehensive mental health evaluations and individualized treatment plans for children with emotional and/or behavioral difficulties, as well as those at high risk of emotional and behavioral problems.
Established more than 50 years ago, the center is well known in the community. Referrals to our programs come from primary care providers, service coordinators, school personnel, community agencies, and families.
Learn about the people who bring expanded benefits to the Theiss Center community through the CCAT and PEAR Projects.
In addition to our main site on Pittsburgh's South Side, the Theiss Center has additional locations in the Greater Pittsburgh region.
Building on decades of service, Theiss behavioral health programs have grown since 2012 thanks to grants from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
