Karla Victum is a Pittsburgh native, former early childhood educator, and previous dance theater professional. She currently serves as a Research Project Clinician for the Pittsburgh Early Attachment and Relationships Project (PEAR) at UPMC's Theiss Center for Child and Adolescent Trauma. In September 2023, Karla graduated from Lesley University with her master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, specializing in Dance Movement Therapy. While pursuing her graduate degree, Karla worked in early childhood education, providing her with a glimpse into the early childhood mental health field. Throughout her training as dancer, counselor, yoga instructor, and integrative wellness life coach over the past 20+ years, Karla has practiced and encountered a variety of therapeutic mind-body methods. As a research clinician for the PEAR project, Karla teams with multiple programs at Theiss, including the Therapeutic Nursery and Preschool, Early Childhood Mental Health Outpatient, and IMPACT Mobile Therapy. Additionally, she provides infant and early childhood mental health consultation services for Hope Academy, an early childhood education program of Hosanna House in Wilkinsburg. Karla is committed to continual growth and learning, and she looks forward to supporting individuals and communities in their fostering of greater mental, physical, spiritual, and social well-being.
