The PEAR Project is poised to provide training and professional development support for a range of professionals in the child- and family-serving professions.
The Project will provide training in specialized IECMH evidence-based treatments, including Incredible Years®, Theraplay® and Parent Child Interaction Therapy, to early childhood clinicians within the UPMC system.
The PEAR Project will collaborate with PA Association for Infant Mental Health (PA-AIMH) and draw upon local expertise, within the Pitt/UPMC system and other agencies and fields of study, to provide free training hours in topics related to IECMH, including attachment, development, and trauma-informed care. The PEAR Project will ensure that all presenters/consultants are certified to ensure that early childhood educators can apply Project professional development activities toward meeting requirements for their competencies. For licensed mental health clinicians, CEUs will be offered through UPMC-WBH’s Educational and Consultative Services.
Finally, the PEAR Project will collaborate with the Infant Mental Health Certificate program at the University of Pittsburgh School of Education to connect IECMH students and practitioners with college credit in Infant Mental Health. Classes for the certification program at Pitt will be hosted at the Theiss location on the Southside.
